WILPF DIY Storycorps

April 27-29 The Hague

Women@TheTable in The Hague

Women@TheTable went to the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF)’s 100th year Anniversary in April 2015 in The Hague.

We brought a talented group of women together led by Media Matters for Women Founder Sharon Bylenga, her colleague Sarah Bomkapre Kamara a radio journalist from Sierra Leone much involved with Media Matters for Women, and Tara Moller a portrait and NGO photographer from the UK.

We had the idea to use the new beta Storycorps app at the WILPF conference to record the stories of women coming from conflict zones. (Having been much impressed and moved by Dave Isay’s TEDPrize talk on Storycorps in March: Everyone around you has a story the world needs to hear.)

We set up, worked with the beta, and let the women speak to one another or to Sarah on issues relating to their activism or to conflict zones…

Here are some of those stories:

Women in Uganda: Rosemary Sennyondo + Sarah Bomkapre Kamara

Women Peacemakers & 1325: Sanam Naraghi Anderlini

Women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: Annie Matundu + Modi Ntambwe
