A Multistakeholder Convening on AI Governance
Followed by a networking reception
8 July 2026 • 9:00 – 18:00 Palais des Nations, Concordia

9:00 – 10:30 | Launch of the AI Product Design
The OHCHR B-Tech Project and Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) are launching a new
AI Product Design Workstream in cooperation with AI industry leaders. The workstream aims
to develop practical, foundational guidance on how human rights due diligence in line with
the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights can be integrated into AI product
development processes, particularly for downstream AI products that are customized or
fine-tuned for specific contexts and uses. This launch event will introduce the workstream,
explain its objectives, scope and methodology, and initiate discussion with key stakeholders
on priorities, expectations, and practical challenges related to embedding human rights
considerations into AI product development as well as future opportunities for inputs by
stakeholders.
10:45 – 13:00 | Designing AI Governance:
Human Rights and Multistakeholder Leadership
(MAP-AI, Global Network Initiative and Centre
for Communications Governance, NLU New Delhi)
This roundtable will foster inclusive discourse around global AI governance, build
cross-regional connections among key actors, and strategize to embed human rights-based
priorities, benchmarks, and commitments into AI governance with a focus on the UNGDAI and
the 2027 Swiss Summit.
15:00 – 16:00 | Global South Network on Trustworthy AI (Digital Futures Lab)
The Global South AI Safety Report is the first independent, expert-led effort to document
the AI safety risks and infrastructure needs specific to Global South. Led by the Global South
Network on Trustworthy AI, the report is guided by leading thinkers and practitioners from
across the Global South. This consultative dialogue will gather new evidence and feedback
on the report.
Citizens’ Track on AI Governance:
From Theory to Practice (PAIRS and Global
Governance Centre Geneva Graduate Institute)
This workshop will bring together practitioners, funders, and advocates focused on inclusive
and democratic AI governance to co-design practical next steps that can deliver a Citizens’ Track
on AI governance linked to both the ongoing UNGDAI and the 2027 Geneva AI Summit. It will
focus on distributed dialogues, institutional interface, funding & sustainability, and governance.
