The session’s objective is to showcase the challenges and biases women face in AI, including how AI can both perpetuate and help dismantle these biases.
The event will consist of four parts: an official opening by the European Commission DG EAC and the EIT, a panel on the biases women face in AI, a fireside chat on emerging AI solutions for women’s empowerment, and a youth-led session including schoolgirls pitching their own AI ideas to reduce gender inequalities.
The Women and Girls in STEM Forum is the annual flagship event organised by the EU-funded Girls Go Circular initiative, and co-designed by the European Commission DG EAC and the EIT. Over the past three years, the Forum has attracted over 3,000 participants to identify key actions to bridge the gender gap in STEM and ICT, dismantle gender stereotypes and empower girls to pursue career dreams in science and technology.
After a successful 2023 edition on the topic of Robotics, this year’s event will spotlight AI’s transformative power in tackling gender inequalities. A diverse group of experts will be invited to share insights, success stories, and strategies through engaging panels and speeches. Together, we will explore how AI can foster inclusive opportunities for women, from targeted education to supportive professional networks, emphasising the essential role of mentorship, representation, and policy changes.
