Rebeca Grynspan has been serving as Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) since September 2021. She is a Costa Rican economist.
Grynspan previously served as UN Under-Secretary-General and the Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (2010–2014). She previously served as Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, appointed to the position by United Nations Secretary-General in December 2005. She was the Vice President of Costa Rica from 1994 to 1998.
